Sculpture: Metal, Cast in Sand on Bronze, Wood.
This artwork is a recreation of an ancient Andean piece of art carved in a snuff tray.
When the ancient people ingested what they considered to be sacred plants, access to a supernatural world could be reliably achieved. The altered states of consciousness conferred by the plants were considered “instructive”, and carefully controlled by Chamanes (priests).
The Jaguar Man is the final state of the hallucination ritual made by the Chamanes.
